The Path to Fulfilling Care
Ashley D’Eon has been a key member of the Family 1st Medical team since joining in October 2021. Based in the Yarmouth office, she works as the main Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) Clinician and also helps patients with their oxygen needs. Her work is vital in helping people breathe easier, sleep better and live more active lives.
Ashley’s path to this role started with over 13 years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), most of which was spent in a fast-paced hospital. While she enjoyed the work, the long and unpredictable hours of hospital shifts became a challenge while raising her three young children. She knew she needed a better work-life balance, but she worried that leaving the hospital would mean leaving behind the sense of purpose she found in nursing. “Boy was I wrong,” she says with a laugh!
Within the supportive framework of Family 1st Medical, Ashley has discovered satisfaction on a different side of patient care. She plays an important role in ensuring clients receive CPAP/BiPAP or oxygen therapy, essential not only for their health but for an enhanced quality of life. “Being able to directly impact a patient’s comfort and well-being outside of a hospital setting is incredibly rewarding,” she shares.
Beyond her direct patient interactions, Ashley has a passion for nurturing the future of healthcare. “I enjoy visiting our local Nova Scotia Community College to educate future nurses about CPAP/BiPAP and Oxygen equipment,” she says, adding that she’s proud to work for a company that truly understands and champions the benefits of giving back to the community.
Ashley’s dedication to her patients and her community perfectly reflects the values that Family 1st stands for, says Yarmouth Branch Co-ordinator, Charlotte Muise. She adds that Family 1st is incredibly fortunate to have her expertise, compassionate approach, and commitment on their team.
