Danielle Atwood, Registered Respiratory Therapist at Family 1st Medical’s Shelburne Satellite Clinic, says she always knew that she wanted to pursue a career in Respiratory Therapy but she was nervous about finding a position that was the right fit. “Graduates of the Respiratory Therapy Program were being employed in big hospitals in large cities. I come from a very small town in Nova Scotia and really had no desire to live in the city,” she says, adding that it was also important for her to give back to the community she was raised in. Danielle started with Family 1st directly after graduation and although life took her away for a few years, she was pleased to return to the company that consistently offered opportunities for her to develop her career while allowing her to live her desired small-town lifestyle. “Family 1st Medical managers, especially my immediate Manager Charlotte Muise, have allowed me to have the kind of career I can be proud of while still having a great work/life balance. It made the decision to be part of the Family 1st team an easy one. They really care about their employees and have their best interest at heart. I’m proud of the service we provide to our clients and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead,” she concludes.
