Success is a Team Effort
At Family 1st Medical, our success is a result of the collective effort of every team member. This collaborative nature is the backbone of our operations, and it is employees like Sara Schofield who exemplify this principle.
Sara joined our New Minas office in January 2020. She is a dedicated district billing clerk, who plays an important role in the daily operations of Family 1st. Unless you’ve had the pleasure of catching her when she’s filling in at the front desk, she’s working hard behind the scenes. Her primary responsibilities, which include managing monthly billing and overseeing home oxygen billing for the Seniors Long-term Care (SLTC) Program, highlight her commitment to our clients and her ability to navigate complex billing processes. In addition to these responsibilities, Sara manages our regular billing activities for private oxygen clients, Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) clients, and home care rentals.
Sara’s social personality, patient nature, and compassionate approach have made her the “go-to person” for clients seeking clarity on their bills. In addition to her billing duties, she has recently embraced new challenges by supporting our Mobility Department with insurance inquiries, claims, and submissions; while also tracking our rental fleet. Her eagerness to grow within the company reflects her dedication, and she appreciates the collaborative environment fostered by her co-workers. “My co-workers have been incredibly supportive and great to work with,” she says, adding that as she gradually transitions into accounts payable and receivable, she is gaining a broader understanding of Family 1st’s financial operations.
Beyond the professional parts of her job, Sara enjoys the personal connections she builds with her coworkers. Office events like potlucks allow staff to spend quality time together celebrating events and milestones. “It’s refreshing to step away from work responsibilities and enjoy each other’s company,” she says, adding that there are so many staff in the New Minas office that they are pretty much guaranteed a cake every month – sometimes two!” Sara also appreciates the invaluable work-life balance that Family 1st provides. “It’s the best I’ve experienced in my career and I’m very thankful for it.”
The positive impact of employees like Sara is felt throughout Family 1st, reminding us that our strength and success are built on the dedication and collective efforts of all of our team members.
