The Art of Customer Service

Providing high-quality customer service is important to Family 1st and it plays a key role in our success. We recognize that each interaction with our customers is an opportunity to build lasting relationships and foster loyalty. Our team is dedicated to understanding and addressing the unique needs of each customer.

As the Client Services representative for the Antigonish office, Shelly MacDonald is at the forefront of client interactions, creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who enters the office. Her journey at Family 1st began in March 2016, when she stepped into this role that allows her to wear many hats and perfectly suits her dynamic personality. Shelly also works closely with the Mobility Department assisting with product inquiries and purchases. She connects with customers, taking the time to listen to their concerns and ensure that they receive the support they need.

Beyond her primary responsibilities at the Antigonish office, Shelly plays a vital role in assisting Family 1st’s satellite offices in Inverness and Port Hawkesbury.

“Working for a company that fosters a supportive environment where both staff and managers prioritize the well-being of clients and employees is very important to me and I have that at Family 1st” she says, adding that it’s inspiring to be part of a team that goes above and beyond to meet the needs of their clients.

Shelly originally moved to Antigonish to attend St. Francis Xavier University where she obtained a B.A. Adv. with a Major in Canadian History. Shelly fell in love with both the community and its people, commenting, “I came to Antigonish and never wanted to leave!” She explains that giving back to a community that has become her home gives her pride.

“The best part of my job is seeing our clients leave with a smile on their face, knowing that I’ve made a positive difference in their day.”

Shelly consistently delivers exceptional service which enhances clients’ experiences and fosters a welcoming and supportive environment for the Family 1st team.
